Social Studies (K-12)

“ An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you know and what you don't.”
--Anatole France

Learning has more to do with what is in your heart and mind than what is in a book.

“The main hope of a nation is in the education of its youth”
--Erasmus

An educated people is necessary for a democracy to function.

“A generation that ignores history has no past – and no future.”
--Robert Heinlein

Living in a democracy demands that our children understand concepts such as freedom, civic responsibility, and patriotism. The Social Studies department involves students in the study of history, geography, economics, government, and citizenship, in order to prepare them to be participating citizens of our community, state, country and world.
